Carbon Neutral Cocoa from Côte d’Ivoire

In the face of unpredictable weather patterns caused by our changing climate, the urgency for low carbon agricultural production has never been greater. At Noble, we adopt a pro-active approach to the challenge of climate change. The Noble Carbon Neutral Project is a step-by-step emissions reduction and offsetting scheme, implemented throughout the Group in order to reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate the effects of climate change.

In 2011 the project expanded in scope to assess and offset the carbon emissions of Noble’s cocoa supply chain from Côte d‘Ivoire to create a new product: carbon neutral cocoa.

We have mapped the most effective ways to reduce and neutralize our carbon footprint all the way from the farmers we partner with to the manufacturers we deliver to. The remaining emissions are offset by carbon credits from renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. Validated by an independent third party and the leading carbon certification body, TÜV NORD, we are now supplying independently verified cocoa from Cote d’Ivoire with a zero emissions footprint.

Reducing our environmental impact and improving our resiliency to climate change are essential to our future business operations. As a leading supply chain manager, we will continue to measure, reduce and offset the carbon emissions of our activities to ensure that our cocoa is a climate-friendly and resource efficient product.
